Our ESG journey and commitment to sustainability
Our ESG capabilities are founded on a deep legacy of delivering low footprint projects and environmental and socioeconomic work, and sustainable solutions that create shared value for all stakeholders.
We deliver our business operations taking into consideration environmental, social, and governance aspects, focusing on generating value for shareholders, stakeholders and other interest groups.
We look at sustainability from two complementary perspectives: internally through our governance structures, corporate strategy, and actions, and externally through the work we undertake for our clients and communities.

Tracking our sustainability performance ensures we uphold our commitments to the global agenda and deliver sector leadership in ESG.
The concept of global citizenship is embedded in the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Reaching these goals takes everyone’s contribution. The actions of individual companies are critical for achieving positive outcomes.
Global Citizenship - leveraging our experience and values to take action on a worldwide scale.

Community-based relationships
We conduct our relationships with communities where we operate with integrity and respect. Our role, as a resources industry partner, is to help grow the economy of the communities in which we operate, and to develop employment, procurement, community and contractor engagement opportunities when possible.
How we achieve positive community impacts
At Ausenco, we offer undergraduate students and new professionals opportunities to make real contributions to project outcomes.
We encourage and support employees to be actively involved in partnerships with local groups, Indigenous communities and charities.
The Ausenco Foundation provides a hand-up and aims to make a positive and sustainable difference to people in the communities in which we live and work.
At Ausenco, sustainability is managed from the highest levels. Our Board of Directors and senior leadership team know that strong governance begins with them. They have ultimate responsibility and accountability to shareholders, employees, clients, and stakeholders. It’s up to them to ensure the organization conducts itself in a way that is consistent with our approach to sustainability.
Our sustainability commitments are deeply aligned with our core values and apply to all Ausenco’s global entities and employees.
Our governance commitments include:
Ensuring the ongoing monitoring and oversight of our sustainability performance by the Ausenco Board of Directors and Executive Leadership Team
Building sustainability commitments into our core business processes
Integrating sustainability criteria into our procurement and supply chain management practices
Educating our employees and subsidiaries on our sustainability commitments and ensuring they adhere to the guidelines

Material topics and ESG goals
In 2021, Ausenco kicked off an initiative to develop a more structured approach to sustainability and ESG.
Prioritizing climate resilience
Ausenco prioritizes understanding greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the services we deliver.
From that, we seek to create a baseline inventory (based on currently available data).
This baseline allows for the creation of internal data channels needed to more accurately estimate GHGs.
Scope 1&2
241.04
tonnes CO2e
481.15
tonnes CO2e
326.13
tonnes CO2e
North America
APAC/Africa
South America
Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions were estimated using energy intensity per square foot benchmarks for offices available through the governments of Peru, Canada and Australia.
Business integrity
Ausenco is committed to operating with the highest standards of ethical behavior, honesty and fairness in all stakeholder relationships.

Walking the Walk:
During 2021, we noted an increased interest in the impact and management of our supply chain from our clients and other stakeholders. To ensure transparency and accountability, we evaluated our policy framework and created criteria to evaluate critical suppliers.
•
We recognize that our purchasing decisions can influence positive change throughout the supply chain, both in the products we directly or indirectly procure and in the communities we work in
•

+
In addition to traditional cost, quality and performance criteria, we will evaluate the sustainability performance of our suppliers and prioritize the selection of our suppliers according to three main criteria:
•
•
•
Their size and strategic importance to Ausenco’s business continuity. This involves identification of our largest suppliers as well as suppliers that are critical for delivering our projects
The potential for environmental impact or risk. This involves identification of suppliers whose goods and services pose environmental risks or create significant environmental impacts
The potential for negative social impacts. This involves identification of supplier’s whose manufacturing locations, or the goods or services they provide, pose a potentially high risk in areas such as human rights violations, lack of worker protection laws, potential for use of forced and child labour, violation of Indigenous rights and titles, as well as other criteria from leading international standards.
Equipment and construction services procured to support on-going projects
Support operations including: building leases/rentals, information technology, professional fees, Insurance, travel and other specialty services and more
We are committed to ensuring that our path towards driving change, acceptance and inclusion makes a genuinely positive impact.
In 2020, we created the Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) Committee representing people of different geographies, businesses, and experiences.
This committee serves as champions of companywide D&I issues, working together to set the strategy, propose actions and measure progress. The Committee informs the Board about D&I progress quarterly.

In 2021, we created Women@Ausenco, an initiative to support women with networking and mentoring opportunities to enhance professional success and to amplify the profile of women at Ausenco, to foster diversity and inclusiveness, and to expand the opportunities available to women and harness their impact.
Women@Ausenco Initiative
Fundamental Engagement with Indigenous Peoples
We’re making a deliberate and concerted effort to build respectful relationships with Indigenous peoples by acknowledging the past, reconciling this with the present, and building for the future based on trust, respect, partnership and accountability. We want to contribute to an inclusive society and be a leader in Indigenous relations and reconciliation.
Diversity, inclusion and equity
Ausenco operates in over 15 countries globally. Our workforce is made up of individuals with a large range of skills, values, backgrounds and experiences. We value this diversity and recognize the organizational strength and opportunity for ingenuity that it brings.
We are progressing along our diversity and inclusion journey.
The Indigenous Peoples of Australia are part of the oldest continuous cultures on the planet, dating back more than 60,000 years. Ausenco acknowledges and pays respect to the past, present, and future Traditional Custodians and Elders of Australia. This important history and the ongoing cultural, spiritual and educational practices makes Australia a stronger and more vibrant place.
In 2019, our first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP-A) described how Ausenco intended to create meaningful relationships, enhance respect, and promote sustainable business opportunities for Indigenous Australians. We remain committed to exploring ways we can strengthen our relationships through enhancing engagement, increasing awareness and education about Indigenous history, values, beliefs and cultural practices, and expanding opportunities for business development.
Our services are tailored to our clients’ specific needs. We combine experience with information technology and new ways of thinking to maximize results.

Fundamental engagement with Indigenous peoples
Ausenco respectfully acknowledges that we live, work and play on the traditional territories of the Indigenous peoples (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit) of Canada. We offer our gratitude to Indigenous peoples for their care of and teachings about the land we call Canada.
Reconciliation is a process of working together to establish and maintain a mutually respectful relationship and foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning. We are committed to this process and to redefining our relationship with Indigenous people in Canada. This requires changes to how we conduct ourselves.
We already have strong relationships with several Indigenous partners. In June 2021 we expanded our efforts by initiating the development of a company-wide Reconciliation Action Plan for Canada (RAP-C).
